HASWICKS BRIDGE WESTGATE

An old stone bridge, Grade 2 listed, replacing two flood-damaged 19th century wooden bridges. It is on a minor road from the east end of Westgate giving access south of the river. The bridge had another arch added on the bank to accommodate the railway in 1895, which passed on the south side of the Wear.

To the east of this bridge the pipeline pictured below crosses the Wear.
