CONFLUENCE OF KILLHOPE AND BURNHOPE BURNS

The River Wear begins where the Killhope and Burnhope Burns combine just west of Wearhead to form the River Wear. The biggest of these tributariesjor, the Killhope Burn, rises high in the East Pennines and the Wear could be said to have its source at that point. Between there and Wearhead the river falls from 620 to 340 metres. The upper photograph looks west while the lower one shows a nearby pipeline on Killhope Burn.
