Bridges On The Tyne

NORTH TYNE - KIELDER CAMPSITE BRIDGE

The campsite at Kielder is reached by turning right 500 yards out of the village onto a track and crossing the river on a recent bridge over the now narrowing Tyne. Forest Enterprise is open from the end of March until the end of September and has a shop. Formerly the football field, the campsite is popular with hikers and bikers, including the Norwegian couple on motorcycles that I spoke to while taking pictures of the bridge there. The country is heavily forested and there are few houses between here and the border.
