Bridges On The Tweed

MELROSE BRIDGE

Replacing a previous bridge this bridge carries the B6374 road from Melrose to Galashiels and its single carriageway is controlled by traffic lights at either end. It has undergone reconstruction over the years and is hump-backed with 2 cutwaters and on the south side is reached down a steep hill. There is a toll former house at the north end.

Also known as Darnlee or Lowood and locally as the Bottle Bridge. Category B Listed.
