Bridges On The Aln

WHITTINGHAM WEST ROAD BRIDGE

This bridge is a few hundred yards west of Whittingham and is a low, single arch humped bridge built of stone. A watergate to prevent straying cattle moving onto adjacent farmland is suspended across the arch. It has a span of 27 feet.T

The river bends repeatedly, upstream of here towards Eslington Hall and there is farmland is on either bank. In the distance lie the Cheviot Hills and wilder country.
