LADY'S BRIDGE ESLINGTON

An old bridge dating from the eary 18th century, this is a private bridge, once the entrance to the Eslington Estate. It is a hump-backed bridge in a woodland setting and was the subject of a woodcut by noted engraver Thomas Bewick. The bridge and its approaches are now overgrown and almost impassable and the bridge may be unsafe.
