Bridges On The Tyne

SOUTH TYNE - ASHGILLSIDE FOOTBRIDGE

On the South Tyne Trail, this is a short footbridge leading to pastures on the west side of the river. There is a gate at one end and the river is in a gorge and its banks are wooded. It is a short distance from Windshaw Bridge across some stiles to where the trail passes this footbridge on its way to Hole House and Tynehead.

The hills on the east side are quite steep and lead to the B6277 road. The road up the South Tyne valley is across the Tyne on the side of the hill.
